WHAT IS THE WORK READY PROGRAM?
The Georgia Work Ready Assessment Program is a complete solution for making quick comparisons between a person’s skill leveland the job requirements, providing a portable skill credential, the Georgia Work Ready Certificate, which is easily and universallyunderstood by employers and certificate recipients. The Georgia Work Ready Assessment is available to all Georgians at no cost.

The Work Ready Assessment is administered by the ACT accredited Work Keys system. The 3 core assessments that we do are Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information and Locating Information.
These are three skills that are highly important to the majority of jobs in the workplace. The assessment is administered at all of the 33 Technical Colleges. (GEM) Summer Game Academy offer participants a fun, intensive “mini-MBA” style course in entrepreneurship and creative technologies where youth participants will learn the basics of putting together a business plan while also developing valuable academic and life skills as well as creating video games for flash, mobile technologies and Apps.
Taught by charismatic, experienced teachers who often have small business backgrounds themselves, students are led through the principles of business creation, game development and operation during (2) one-week periods. Semantic Seed presents an advanced curriculum, using world-class software and technologies which teach students rapid, agile business entrepreneurship skills.

Like the headline says, a Corona-built game named Bubble Ball (which was our most recent App of the Week) just passed the free version of Angry Birds: Seasons on the App Store’s free apps chart. According to the developer — who is just 14 years old — the physics puzzle game has over a million downloads to date, and the download numbers haven’t even topped off yet.
We’ve been watching Bubble Ball climb the charts today. Heck, we were pretty excited when itreached #2, thinking it could never unseat the mighty Angry Birds. But then, just a few minutes ago, it hit the #1 spot!
Congratulations to developer Robert Nay on this achievement — we’ll be following up on this story with more details about his project and his future plans for it!
